Democratic candidate Veronica Magnan’s bid to unseat Republican incumbent Sherm Hutchins from House District 131  was unsuccessful.

She thanked her team for putting up a commendable fight.

“I did not win this election. My wonderful team and I certainly gave it our best, but came up short,” she posted on Facebook.

Magnan also congratulated Hutchins on the victory.

“I called Sherm Hutchins earlier to offer my congratulations, but had to leave a message. I asked that he not brush off Broadband expansion, which was one of my three key interests. Our District 131 and so many other rural areas are bleeding jobs and educational opportunities due to lack of or low Broadband,” read her post in part.

She also took time to thank everyone who supported and voted for her during the campaign.

“Thank you all for your support. I truly appreciated every one of you who gave me your vote and hoped to see Maine make progress as we recover from the COVID pandemic. My prayer is that our country will prevail and be restored to its prominence in the world. And that all of us can pursue health, happiness and peace in our lives and families,” she concluded.
